I've had my Goodall Concert Jumbo for 3 years now, and, to my surprise, that guitar LOVES the 8020 Elixir Nanoweb strings!

I have always considered myself a "phosphor bronze" guy, but there is no question in my mind that this particular guitar (German spruce over Honduran rosewood) sounds much better with the 80-20's than the phosphor bronze from the same manufacturer...

For the past month, I've had an experimental trial set of Elixir phosphor bronze strings on the guitar. They sound okay, but nowhere near as good as with the 80-20's!

Default Thanks everyone

Interesting to see others' thoughts.

I updated the top post with an additional recording made today, and the raw fundamental tone of the 80/20 really is bringing out a deep appreciation for a simpler sound.

For now, at least...

Much appreciated, all,

AH

I have a Santa Cruz Standard OM Adirondack/EIR which sounds old school with medium 13/56 80/20 bronze Elixir Nanos

Hi, thanks for this -- I have seen the 80/20 'Authentic' strings... is this what you're referring to? Or is there another 80/20 string Martin makes?

(I have only seen one type at the music store near me)

Thanks!

I've never liked 80/20's myself. I guess the slightly decreased tension feels noticeably a bit lighter, and I can see the slightly more smiley face EQ curve working for some guitars or players... But I miss the phosphor bronze punch. And at least uncoated 80/20's seeming feel dead much sooner to me, and they have more friction in their feel to my skin. That said, I'm actually putting a set on one of my guitars today for my pal Adam Levy to borrow the guitar, because that's what he requested. And Adam is one my favorite players in the world, so there you go. We're all different
