Default One of the highlights....

of Mom's 86 years.

Back in the late 80's/early 90's Gordon Foods put on a special event for their "favorite" restaurant people - no surprise Dad was always on that list.

This was in Grand Rapids and for those of you who don't recognize or can't make out the writing - that's Tom T. Hall.

Mom was a huge fan before this, and when she heard he was going to be there, she dressed up in her dancing dress and boots (she and Dad had been taking country dance lessons)

Tom T. saw her and said "Well, Ma'am, you're dressed for dancin'" and swept her up for a picture during the VIP dinner.

They had him back again a couple years later and she got him to sign it for her. Good times...

RIP Tom, you made Mom smile and I thank you for that.

Great picture Todd!
Sitting on top of my book case - don't have too many pics with Mom smiling, and this one gives me some peace.

Lovely photo, and a lovely memory.

And the rabbit trail that posts like this take you on… I didn’t know who Tom T. Hall was, and found out that, among other achievements, he wrote “Harper Valley PTA”.

Great, great song

He also wrote "Pamela Brown," although most people think it's a Leo Kottke song.

It's always on my set list on those rare occasions when I play out.
