Default Together again...

Mom and Dad are together again. Mom passed peacefully in my arms around 6pm tonight.

She had returned from the Covid "hub" in Traverse on Monday night, but apparently the 2 1/2 hour drive proved too much. She quickly declined and I got a frantic phone call from the nursing home.

I rushed out there and had been with her all but a very few hours of sleep since Monday night.

Certainly wasn't the way I wanted this go end, but I'm glad she's no longer suffering.

Thanks to everyone for your support during this very difficult time I've been through - it really means a lot to me.

Oh my. I’m sad for you, Todd. That’s a beautiful, touching photo of your Mom and Dad. Your Mom is now at peace with your Dad, you can mourn and hopefully soon, begin your own healing and eventually feel relief knowing that you’d given all of your being to your parents. You’re sad, but you should also feel proud. I wish you well.

Thanks my friend - yes, as difficult as it's been for the past nearly 7 years I wouldn't have had it any other way.

That picture was actually a "still" taken from a video they were in for Dow Chemical. That's at the Senior Center they used to visit daily. Dow has now taken down the video or I'd post it!

You were a good son to both, my friend. I'm sure they were both grateful for that. Take care of yourself and don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do for you.

Austin

Thanks Austin - there is going to be a long rest (except for exercise of course) then it will be time to find myself again.

My music has certainly taken a back seat, and I plan to try to get my chops back again.

Todd, you have been in my morning prayers and that will continue. I was holding my mother's hand when she passed away. I can understand what you may be feeling. The grieving process was difficult for me. One day I had the realization that the only way she could be made whole again was to be brought "home." Your mother is there now and she is whole again. I hope that may give you comfort in the days ahead.

Thank you my friend....

Over the last three days I told her about 200 times how all of her family and friends (each one by name) would be waiting for her, and that it was OK to go, that I'd miss her terribly but be fine.

My Mom had many fears in life, but the worst by far was death. I tried to make it as easy a transition as possible.

Condolences, Todd. I know it's been a long rocky road for you the past several years. Rest, reset and carry on, my friend.

I'm very sorry to read about your mom, Todd. So many of us here on the Forum have lost parents recently. Be good to yourself, as you did everything you could for your parents for many years.

I promised my Dad on his death bed four years ago that I'd take care of her - after 63 years together I knew that was his biggest concern.

I've tried to honor that promise by doing exactly what he would have.
