Default No NAMM show in January 2021

Got the email from NAMM earlier today. NAMM show is canceled due to Covid.

Sorry to hear it.

This is a profound set back for the music business. Of course, there's no reason to present the newest, and latest, for an industry which no longer exists.....

I thought there might be some new gear announcements of interest in lieu of the summer NAMM 2020, but haven't seen anything (at least in the acoustic space). Even if there's no show, I'd have expected some announcements to generate interest for dealers for the fall buying season. I've read that guitar sales were actually up substantially since the start of Covid (the article I read was about the UK). Has anyone heard anything interesting about any new models?

Man, I was actually considering going this time for the first time ever. My wallet has sighed.

I think good job, it would be foolish to go ahead with this imo. Covid is spreading fast enough in the US as it is.

Thanks for the PSA. I was thinking it would be cancelled. I wonder if vendors (manufacturers) will host their own product release shows via YouTube videos or if they will wait until the summer to roll out new products.

"No longer exists"? Hardly. Sales are up and people seem to be playing music more than they have in a long time. Live performances in clubs and arenas have temporarily halted sure but your statement brings to mind the famous quote "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated".

Not a surprise. Many companies have seen widespread production and supply chain impacts during these uncertain times. Current inventory is low and back-ordered, so it's difficult to think about new product releases.

I will miss seeing all my friends at the show. But for sure, NAMM is the worst case scenario super-spreader event, with ninety thousand people coming from all over the world, indoors for four days.. I've had the thought a few times that had COVID hit the US just a month or so earlier a whole lot of us music people might not be around anymore.

Probably won’t necessarily stop the flow of cool new product ;-0

I agree Eric. Not unexpected and totally reasonable and prudent, but still sad.

I'll miss it.
