Default "Dandelion" by Masaaki Kishibe on a Cedar/ABW Uchida 15"

Hi AGF fam,

Wanted to share a recording recently taped at Dream Guitars of one of favorite fingerstyle pieces of all time...this guitar feels perfect for this song in that it has all the warmth of Cedar for the melodies and a nice low-midrange foundation for the bass even when capo'd. This is a really interesting 15" guitar made by legendary builder Mitsuhiro Uchida in Japan, some may know of him by Isaac Jang, as he is the original developer of the "bendaway" modern cutaway. Beautiful sounding and looking guitar that is noticeably different than any guitar I've ever played. Hope it speaks to you :-)

Sounds beautiful, Dustin. I agree, that guitar really sings with the Kishibe song choice The bendaway is a neat concept, but I have to think it's tricky to heat the sides and form just right!!

Lots of mindbending stuff on this guitar, but the voice is still the headliner :-)

Smile Sweet!

Guitar sounds great Dustin, and so to you, as always! My goodness this gentleman builds some beautiful instruments….

Hope you’re having lots of fun in Asheville. I’m a bit jealous…

Cheers

Paul.

I dig the design concept of the headstock. It gives almost perfectly straight string paths for all 6 strings, and also must reduce the overall weight of the headstock. I love light guitars, but they inevitably are neck heavy, even when using the lightest tuning machines possible.

Do you know if this headstock reinforced in any way, or just the wood?

And more importantly, such a beautiful interpretation of this song Dustin. Thanks for posting it.

Beautiful job on such a unique guitar (on the market for almost $62k, wow!). It’s good to hear you do another Kishibe song. You did a performance of Hana several years ago that was very inspiring to me.
