Beautiful, Alan, I'm getting jealous!!! I have an upcoming built with John, but I guess it's still a year or so... That MRW (both back and veneer) looks special.

I’m on his schedule for 2022. An Adi/BRW OM-45. Can’t wait.

Ernesto, Thank you, and Congrats! John will build you a great guitar! This MRW is from his Mastergrade stash.

Stuning, as usual with John. I've probably played around +20 circa guitars, and they always blew my mind as guitarbuilder, or (poor) guitarist. One of the best builder for years now in our market, and such an amazing person! He is a gem!

You, sir, are a wise man. I commissioned an Adi/Braz 00-12. Birdsbeak neck and maybe banjo tuners.

Adi: Adirondack or red spruce
Madi or MRW: Madagascar rosewood
Circa: brand name for John Slobod's guitars

a few others that come to mind:

Hog: mahogany
Braz. or BRW: Brazilian rosewood
EIR: east Indian rosewood
ABW: African blackwood
FWI: fossilized walrus ivory, used for nuts & saddles
TRC: truss rod cover
b/w/b: black/white/black purfling
kerfing: contraction of 'kerfed (slotted) lining', reinforcing the internal joints between the sides and the top & back
nitro: nitrocellulose lacquer
french polish: a hand technique for applying a thin shellac-based finish
NGD: new guitar day

Other posters please feel free to add common contractions or acronyms to the list. Perhaps we can build a glossary for guitar aficionados...

Thanks!

A number of those abbreviations were rather obvious, but I never yet figured about what NGD stood for...

A simple one: FM = flamed maple.

Circa as a brand name, would that be a clin d'oeil to the fact you never know *exactly* when a wood instrument develops its definitive voice?

Oh yeah, no cutaway on the 00-12. If it was my only guitar, I’d have to do a cutaway, but since it isn’t I can get away with keeping it simple.

Hi, Folks

John completed this 000 and strung it up last Wednesday.
Here's what Mr. Slobod has to say about this guitar;

This guitar is the most like BRW of any MRW guitars I have made.
It has classic BRW low-end and a bit of reverb which I don't normally hear in new Circa Guitars with MRW.

Wowza! That is the most fantastic news I've been waiting for!

John got me these pix today saying he will head to TJ's for the Plek next week. In the meantime, he's enjoying playing my guitar!!!

IMO, John is super talented at a teaser. He crops images in a certain way to make us want more from him. That kind of visual language works out commercially, at least for me! HaHa

Never got me a full shot yet but he will work on some better photos later!

Can't wait for the NGD...

Cheers,

Alan

Hi, Folk

John shipped the package and sent me a few photos. Super exciting mode at the moment!
I will see this beauty probably this weekend or so... I’ll be back with NGD post shortly!

Cheers

Alan
