Thanks John,

Yeah as pretty as the color and figure is on this Ovangkol it just doesn’t seem to need a lot of fancy introductions.

Thanks for commenting!

Default Arm Bevel

I've have the arm bevel pretty well cleaned up:

It's a nice place to show off some of the grain in the Macassar Ebony:

Default Ovangkol

I very much enjoy working with Ovangkol. It is resonant and can be beautiful, like an earthy Koa that sounds more like rosewood. This Ovangkol Josie small jumbo is a commission but, I have this other set:

Just say'n

Thanks ukejon!

Back to the build. Today I set up the sound port. It is bound with Macassar and Maple purfling:

Default Setting up neck

We're going with some very old Honduran Mahogany for the neck, You can also see the cross grained Ovangkol center strip bordered with maple. Fitting the neck to the body is were it all really starts when roughing out a neck:

Default Headstock overlay

I put together the headstock overlay. It's the same flamed Ovangkol and is bound with Macassar Ebony with maple purfling:

Hi Mike, I’ll be introducing my Unlimited Series at the show. It will be the Olivewood Penelope model, my almost finished throated sound port Greta grand auditorium, and hopefully an all Koa Josie small jumbo with a wedge and fan frets and much more. I’ll also likely have a second Penelope in Ebony.
I’m looking forward to show and showing my new stuff!

Thanks,
Mark
