It looks so big!! . That's because I'm primarily playing smaller guitars these days. But I've played your Pablo special Kinnairds and they don't play like big guitars. Quite amazing!

And I'm hoping that John keeps the work and the pics coming! Sitting here with my broken leg elevated with ice and I can't play much right now because I'm not good at playing on my back (yes, I did try!). After spending much of these last months working on my playing, I'm stuck temporarily listening from the sidelines for a a bit and AGF build threads are keeping me going!

Be well everyone! Stay upright!!

Yikes Beth
That sound like a serious break. Surgery maybe

Hope you get in a more vertical position soon and keep on improving.

I understand that improvement can happen passively for awhile after intense practice. No telling how much better you will feel about your playing when you are up and running again

Thanks for the kind remarks re pablo's build

John

Well I have not fractured my leg and the guitar looks huge! I can't imagine the sound that will come from that. Quite the opposite end of the spectrum from the Johnboat!!!

Speedy recovery Beth! Sorry to hear about your leg. Must be really tough not to be playing. Hope you are better in no time!

Hi all-

Thanks for the good wishes! Didn't mean to hijack John and Paul's thread (but Paul did kind of give me permission )

Surgery was Tuesday afternoon and went well. So now I'm back to sitting with my leg up and feeling good enough to scout AGF for great guitar pictures. And imagine playing them!!

And I do hope that, as John says, I end up having this time to consolidate my skills for a bit and have passive improvement! At least I have plates and screws in my ankle and not my wrists!!

I'm hoping to play again soon. I did sneak in a few minutes last week, but I couldn't play long. I'll know my recovery is going well when I can sit and play with my leg up and be OK. There was that one rocker who broke his leg a few years ago, but he might have been a drummer... Like Paul!! (trying to tie back into Paul's thread here)

And this is shaping up to be one gorgeous guitar!! I'm enjoying following this build of a huge guitar that doesn't feel huge to play and has all of the Pablo features!

Hey Beth, look on the bright side, if you don't get better, Paul will likely come to your new "home" and play a concert with the Mitchell for you and the rest of the folks.

Smile Yay Beth

Hey Beth!

Yes please Hijack away... glad to hear about progress!

"Surgery was Tuesday afternoon and went well. So now I'm back to sitting with my leg up and feeling good enough to scout AGF for great guitar pictures. And imagine playing them!!"

That is great news. You will be rockin' soon and walking pretty quick!

Heal FAST and COMPLETELY!!!

I will post more from John as soon as I have it... The BIG GUN is knocking my socks off. This one will be very similar but with the BRAZILIAN. And John's experience of building three now in this new Giant shape should yield major sonic dividends!!!

Hope all are well and FUN IS HAPPENING

Salud

Paul

Back strip mock up. Kiaat center, black (dyed) poplar, and Curley Mahogany with joy juice... we also discussed figured Maple instead of the Mahogany.

Up to John as he is right there to see it up close!

I like this more traditional back strip... but that is just me.

Salud!

More back strip mock up pics.
I believe the horizontal one is probably some kind of figured Maple on the outsides.
And the diagonal the Curley Mahogany.
I could be right...

Smile Outer purfling lines

John tells me this flamed/curly Mahogany is from the Fiddleback Tree. Woohoo

Let's use it all over the bindings/bevels.

Big fire burning here in South East San Diego County. We have been told to prepare to evacuate!

Cars packed and both my remaining JKs in the trunk! Cases packed in sleeeping bags and insulation stuff. 105 degrees today. Welcome to the future.... Sheesh.

So if I disappear around here you know why.

Time to ship John THE OVERLORD ASAP. If I can!

Stay safe all and have a FINE LABOR DAY!

Paul

haha no wonder that looked familiar! I think it's a great match for the kiaat and braz, adds a little sparkle.

Smile Still at home...

We are prepared to evacuate but it does not appear we will need to... we hope! Not as hot today. YAY

Also, I talked with Beth a few minutes ago and she is recuperating well from her surgery. Some good news...

Happy Labor Day to all!!!

Salud

Hey Paul-

I hope you and Cindy are still safe down in the San Diego mountains! All of CA feels like it's on fire! Our home is safe, for now, and there is evacuation advice everywhere. Paul gave me good advice not seen elsewhere: "always take your two best guitars with you!! and for the rest there is insurance"

John's bevels are always beautiful and it will be wonderful to have Fiddleback mahogany on all of those bevels and bindings. So gorgeous!!!

Take care everyone! Be safe! Have your best guitars with you! And stay upright!!

beth
