Default Taylor NS24CE vs NS34CE

Is there significant tonal difference between Taylor NS24CE and NS34CE? I like the playability & tone of the 24. My local dealer doesn't carry the 34, so I love to hear some opinions whether it is worth the price difference to get a 34 instead. Tks everyone!

It's been a long time since I played both and compared them- I don't remember a big difference in sound, the NS34ce might have had more defined notes, but the biggest difference I remember were the necks. The 34 was much nicer, much smoother like most Taylor satin necks whereas the 24 not so much...

Default Just got a 34

I got my NS-34CE this past Monday afternoon. The shop I use most is a Taylor dealer and had both a NS-24E and an NS-24CE but not a 34CE. They said they would have to order a 34 and since they are small they weren't sure when they could get it in. I ended up ordering it through a "big box" guitar shop and got it in 4 days.

The 24 may have ES-T electronics (specs conflict what it has, ES-N or ES-T) where the 34 has new ES-N peizo electronics. The 24 has Indian Rosewood laminate sides, the 34 solid sapele. The 24 has an all satin finish, 34 satin with gloss top. Tuners are different between the guitars, also.

Same strings, same dimensions but I think I can hear a diffierence between them (non-amplified) which may be jaded because I put out the extra $ for the 34 and am just trying to convince myself I didn't waste $400.

The $ difference isn't as high at the store as it is on the Taylor website.

Tks guys,

BairdM3, I thought the 24 neck was very nice. If 34 is better, that'll be really great

TXBart, I have the same situation you faced... NS34 is special order only.
How do you find the unplugged volume between 24 & 34?

The 34 sound seems "richer" to me, I don't know about volume. The shop I use sold their 24ce last week, they have a 23e that I can compare tomorrow.
