Eddie Pennington - "Blue Smoke"
To all -
Having a cabin in the Tennessee Mountains has given me the opportunity to hear some wonderful "local talent" over the last 10 years. One person who I've come to know and greatly admire is Eddie Pennington. If you ever get the opportunity to see him perform it's a "must do" kind of thing. This video was taken of him performing a very tricky piece by Merle Travis called "Blue Smoke". It was filmed as part of the "Kentucky Historical Society -- Guitar Master Series" Concert. That's OK - we like Kentucky also! Eddie is the living embodiment of Merle himself. Watch this and see if you don't agree: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AwClOswvbM Good stuff, eh? Taylorplayer

OK - it's official -- this years Pennington Festival should be the best one yet! I highly encourage anyone who can attend to give it a try. If you like Merle -- and Chet (and Chet liked Merle), OK - I know - stop it already! :-) -- then you'll love listening to Eddie!
Info here: http://penningtonfolkfestival.com/ Oh yeah -- I almost forgot -- it's a free event! Doesn't get a whole lot better than that folks. Tell him "Will" told you about the festival... maybe he'll do a request for you. Or throw something at you... Either way, it's been a blast in the past and this year should be no different. All the best, Taylorplayer |
