Default Photo Hosting Sites

Are most of the photo hosting sites (for guitar pics to be posted here) basically the same in terms of usage and costs and such or might there be one thats preferred over any of the others?
I’m presuming free is not an option.
Nice to be able to post directly from the AGF app and Tapa but was looking for something where I don’t need to shift gears to do so.

Was looking at smugmug and such but would certainly be open to suggestions.

I use Imgur and have never bothered to sign up. Works great.

I post all photos direct from my PC or iPad. As a Charter Member, it’s quick and straightforward, and I have no need for the added complications (or cost) of a hosting site.

How does using a hosting-site enable you to post photos without the ‘need to shift gears’ (whatever that strange analogy means!)?

All the posting methods work fine. It's just a matter what you get used to and personal preference. I think you'll find Imgur is the most popular third-party host used on the AGF.

Same here. I used to use PhotoBucket until it became a pay-for-use site a couple years ago. No issues with Imgur. Free and easy to use.

I really hate the photo hosting sites. Ads and posts with links to click-bait hosting sites like Flickr I just surf right on by. Same with any photo links that take me to another website. Reverb links is the one exception. Imgur is fairly innocuous with one glaring exception - the photos will not display on my computer at work as the company blocks such things so embedded photos show up little green icons. Annoying. I will often reach out to people in the classifieds here when they say they can't (or won't) post photos and have them text me their photos and then I'll post them on their post for them. Nothing worse than what sounds like a beautiful guitar that you can't see the photos!!

I agree with Methos on that point. When members post the entire share link that Flickr provides, it's actually loaded with junk. There are four links included when only one is needed. One of the four reveals the name of the poster when their AGF user name may not. I have removed them many, many times.

Flickr can still be used rather easily. I just suggest members be careful with Flickr's share links. If anyone needs help with that, PM me.

Humm of course your employer blocking is an issue but a separate issue.

But the good news is (for Imgur anyway, have no clue about Flickr) the way I have the Imgur Bookmark set up, I go directly to my "Images" page and never have to deal with any adds , popups, links elsewhere, or "click bait"...quite frankly there is nothing to hate and everything to like. YMMV

I've been using Imgur for 4 years with a couple hundred photos stored there. It's free and fairly easy to use. It's quite easy to copy an image address and paste it into AGF's pop up "add photo URL" box.

My self I prefer to use the BBCode, paste it directly into the AGF reply box and have it auto open

I used to Imgur, but now you have to sign up or whitelist the site in order to post which is crazy annoying. I haven't used it in about a year. I use postimages now, since it's free and not annoying:

https://postimages.org/

Surprised so many still use imgur with the change.
