Smile New 2 Channel Blender Preamp from Grace Design

Hi everybody,

My name is Eben Grace and I'm with Grace Design in Lyons, CO. I want to introduce myself and our new acoustic instrument preamp.

We call it Felix and you can read all about it here:

http://www.gracedesign.com/products/felix/felix.htm

Briefly, this is a very high quality 2 channel instrument and mic preamp in a floor unit form factor with full eq on each channel and just a ton of signal routing possibilities. It has a built in universal AC power supply (no wall wart), a five year transferrable warranty, is made in the USA, and is $1095.00 MSRP.

We have spent many years consulting with touring / professional players on this guy, trying to cover as many bases as possible and make it useful for a wide array of instruments.

I will be at the NAMM show with it this weekend, booth #5827 (hall B), if by chance any of you are planning on attending the show. I'll have a guitar and will be glad to give you a demo and say hello.

We design and build everything here in the little bluegrass mecca of Lyons, CO. We have been building high end pro audio for about 20 years. Over this time we have made friends with many fabulous acoustic artists. So the idea of making a really high quality acoustic preamp is something that we've been kicking around for a long time. This little guy is really a fan letter from us to all the great acoustic players in the world - including all of you on this forum.

So feel free to message or call (303.823.8100 x 106) with any question you have.

Thanks everybody!

Eben Grace

Wow that looks really fantastic! Love the dual DI outputs and all the routing possibilities.

Is the Felix capable of taking a dual source input on a single TRS jack, and splitting the channels while providing phantom power to the ring for a mic, say in the K&K Trinity system?

Thanks!
-Mike

Cool. This will no doubt be a stellar product, coming from Grace Designs. It may be the first product to truly challenge a Pendulum SPS-1.

Thanks so much, Mike. We are really happy to release this today!

And yes, the channel 2 1/4" input is TRS (tip to ch2, ring to ch1 w/ phantom power) to access both channels from one TRS instrument cable. There is also 12v available on either channel - 48V phantom just on channel 1.

Wow! It looks really impressive.
If the sound quality is as good, it's gonna be a killer product.
Plus the impedance switching on both channels will be exceptionally useful for those with multiple pickups for better matching.

Hope to read some reviews soon!

Famous Grace quality in a well-designed, very portable, and versatile instrument preamp, and at a reasonable price! This will be a hit!

Regards,

To clarify this a bit - 12V can be sent to the tip OR ring on either channel. This is an internal jumper setting.

Just curious as to how you came to your EQ bands. The unfortunate frequency of USTs is usually somewhere around 7k, but your parametric doesn't go up that high, only to 6k. Why?
