Center seam crack stability
Looking at a guitar with a "stable" center seam crack ("separation") that is clearly visible (in pictures) in the lower bout. Reputable seller. How does one know or confirm that the crack is in fact stable and not prone to continue opening up? Thanks

I think it depends on how the separation got there in the first place. If it happened due to improper humidification, humidifying the guitar might close it up. If it got there due to excessive heat or improper glue joint, then other problems like loose braces might exist. Only a qualified and experienced repair person or luthier could be able to take a look and see if a repair is warranted now or down the line. My two cents anyway...

I had a Martin guitar that developed a center seam crack. Once it was repaired properly (glued and cleated) it never opened up again in the subsequent 20 years that I owned the guitar. Ask the seller how long it has been stable since repair?
