Default Tonerite on electric guitars?

Hey all,

I know we have seen the Tonerite discussion a number of times and are often quite definitive in their opinions. I am curious if anyone here is has tried a Tonerite on a semi-hollow (like a Tele thinline). If so, did you notice a change? [Here's where we usually get a "if you expected a change, you will hear a change comment...lol]/. Serously, I'm fine with "yes" (even though it may only be a preception-becomes-reality notion) or "nope, no difference at all."

And, I has anyone tried it on a solid body electric?

I own one, and will probably try it on both, but am wondering if anyone has tried it on their electrics and what those impressions are when done.

Thanks,
Mike

I have tried it on a solid body and noted no changes.

Similarly, lodging a tonerite in your larynx overnight will not improve your singing...

...however I urge anyone thinking of starting another tonerite thread to please give it a try anyway.

I'm not looking to start a discussion on "does it work vs. does it not work", or other theoretical discussions on the virtue of using a Tonerite. I realize that's a lot like like not trying to start a food fight after throwing an egg, but I'm trying to keep it to something as simpe as subjective impressions on whether it has worked or not for those who tried it.

I greatly appreciate the simple response from srick. That's really what this is about, at least for me; I tried it on a hollow/semi-hollow/solidbody and it did/did not appear to make any difference.

Thanks!!

When I have time I use it on the electrics I build before they go out.

I'll string up my guitars, cut the nut and adjust the action. Then I level and crown the frets after the neck has had string tension for a day or so. By that time the strings have been on and off a couple times.

After I set the action, truss rod, etc. I'll put the Tonerite on the guitar for a day or two and then install new strings.

I've noticed my guitars will change slightly after a couple hours of being played in, the initial attack seems to change.

Anyway that's what I do. I can't say it's a huge difference but it seems to help that initial break in period.

I have a thread on one of my guitars here,

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=274483

I was able to put the Tonerite on that guitar for just a couple hrs before the client picked it up for a gig in Florida the next day. He took it home, played a couple hours and texted back that he could sense it'd changed since he'd picked it up.

I'm one of these guys who believes vibrations are good for guitars, helps 'em settle in. I don't rely on the Tonerite "making the guitar better". That's my job, but as i said, vibrations are good.

Beautiful tele-like guitar!! Read through that thread yesterday. Really, really nice. And thanks for the response!

I figure, at the very least, it can't hurt, and I agree that vibrations are good for the instrument. I will try it for myself, especially on a Carvin I just picked up off of eBay; an AE185, similar to a Thinline, with a Peizo pickup. After that I might set up a solidbody or two and test it out with about a week on each.

These will be purely subjective attempts, in no way designed to prove or disprove the theory behind the Tonerite, as I don't have the patience, attention span or desire to try and set up a guitar in a "scientific" manner to do a good before-and-after test. It'll give my guitars something to do between the times I go from one to the other, lol!

Still welcoming any experieces others have had with Tonerights and electrics.

Thanks,
Mike

Won't it make your Telecaster sound like a pre-war Martin?

Nope. Not even a pre-war tele. (thankfully, it's not my goal).

Mike, thanks for the kind words on my guitars.

No, but I think it would make a pre-war Martin sound like a Taylor!
