Bruce:
The tool marks on the scroll certainly give it a touch of elegance. Nice work. Strictly in terms of the woodwork how would you class the skill level required compared to guitar construction. Glad to see you posting again. Tom

If you like the look of my violin and want to see a guitar done in that style, more or less, you'll want to check out the four guitars I have made in my "artifact" series. Here's one, available at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville:

Do you have links to the other 3 guitars, Bruce? I'll say I'm not really into those "reliced" guitars...but you seem to nail the sweet spot of making them not look brand new without being falsely abused.

And . . . here it is in silver:
You don't want to know, and I don't want to say, what this alchemy cost me in unbudgeted time. |

I love the smell of Tucarensis in the Morning! This is my first guitar of the year, and I am looking forward to the more familiar territory. Carpathian top and a flitch matched set of Tuc, the only such set I have. Not perfectly quartered though close, but the flitch-match is actually a big deal IMO as it makes the density of the back and sides all one thing, and something of a constant.
I am a big fan of the wider grained Carpathian available when we first saw this material, and I acquired what seemed like quite a few sets at the time; I have only four left. This is very light weight for its stiffness, and should suit this customer. He has asked for a very low action for a light touch, but wants a lot of volume none the less. Wide Grained Carpathian is peerless among the spruces for this purpose IMO. |

That same top sure did it for my last Sexauer build. Plenty of volume from a light touch.
