Ever want to throw your metronome against the wall!
I know that practicing with a metronome will make me a better player and I try to use it in every practice session, but man, that incessant clicking drives me nuts!
Of course it doesn't help that it shows every little flaw in my timing. Oh well, rant over. Back to practice time

As a teacher, I'm not convinced playing with metronomes always makes players better. If you are convinced it does, pretty simple to just down load an app with a metronome in it and change to tone so it doesn't click but makes a more pleasant noise (which may or MAY NOT improve your attitude). |

I also don’t know if it makes you a better player or not, but I know it improves your timing, which is the point of using it.
It’s frustrating because it reveals your inconsistency. I use it rarely and only as a refresher for helping me relate to various tempos.

Hard work is a good thing.
Even tempo matters. After you can achieve it you're free to vary the tempo when you feel doing so enhances the music. But yes, your frustration is understandable. You're not alone in this challenge. |

I actually had a JC guitar instructor show the class his metronome (held together with duct tape), which he declared he had thrown against a wall in frustration one day.

The other forum has addressed this. It’s time for this to end.

Actually I never worried about timing, I mean if my right hand is hitting the beat with the bass and bass drum, well I'm ok,. Now what has gave me problems is sing a 3/4 songs...yikes

Practice with a metronome
I never use them. They throw off my rhythm.
Seriously, they can help you from lagging or speeding up, but they can dampen the small variations that give a piece soul.

Someone might want to comment on studios and artists that use click tracks when recording, and add that to the discussion.
