Default Benefits of teaching

Don’t know if this is the right sub forum and I probably shouldn’t call this “teaching,” but that easier to put in a title than “informally showing a friend a few things.” A friend hom I think is a pretty good player, AND whose larger hands and long, slender fingers I have always envied. I am showing her the intro to Time in a Bottle, and she is having trouble with the fingering positions I have worked hard to master and thought would be so much easier if my fingers were longer. Guess it goes to show it really is more about practice and less about physical characteristics. Meanwhile, I have been doing some simple plumbing DIY and foun myself wondering how guys, most of whom are significantly bigger than my petite self, ever manage working in the tight, awkward spaces...

For me almost every time it was someone asking me to figure out how to play something they had heard. The advantage
to me was working on some types of music different from my norm and later incorporate some of that into my own works.
