Default I'm in love... New Guild X175b

Real pic to come soon. This is a stock image.

I have really been enjoying rockabilly lately and wanted a fully hollow body with P90s. I love Guilds and needed one of these badly! Well, my wife may not think I needed it, but I did!!!

What an absolute tone monster this is! It came pre-strung with flat wounds and well set up. Through my Twin Reverb this is pure heaven! Loving the tone and playability. I might have preferred a pinned bridge, but I can handle a floating bridge (heck, I'm a banjo player!).

Randy Richter is a darn good rockabilly player. I love listening to his band Randy Rich and the Poor Boys. IMO, they do a great job capturing that ‘50s sound.

Found this on Guild's web site - what a classic sound! Congrats on a great find.

That guy's a great player I've seen him do some other fantastic demos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oITs2N4khfs

As for wanting a pinned bridge I just use that really thin 3m two side tape on the base of the bridge. First I carefully set the intonation, then I make little pointers with painters tape to show me where the bridge needs to go and then remove the strings. I put the tape all the way across the base of the bridge, put it back on the guitar, and restring. I've never had a bridge move since and I'm heavy handed. I've done this on at least ten guitars (mostly Gretsch and Gibson) and it doesn't change the electric sound in the least!

Here's what I used on my Epiphone Olympic last week...

Very cool guitar! I used to have one of those in Gretsch orange with gold hardware and bigsby. It was a beast! I miss it.

What a great video! Beside a number of other great points made concisely, this is, hands down (pun intended?) the best "tone is in the fingers" demonstration I've seen.

Thanks Steve!
