Default Where did you get your picks?

There’s a story behind every guitar. Everyone knows when and where they got their guitars and what they went through to get them. How about picks? I have numerous picks in a pile and I can only remember where I got a few of them. The pile only gets bigger. Maybe I have a long-term memory problem. Are there any stories behind a pick?

Mine were custom ordered by a forum friend (noledog) and I have enough to last me for the foreseeable future.

The picks I use cost me $10-$40 each so I remember when and where I got them.

I make my own picks from water buffalo horn . . .

The BlueChip picks are for comparison.

Apart from the Dunlop Tortex 346s that I bought in bulk and have refashioned,

see :

I mostly use Blue Chip TAD 50s (dreads and jumbo) or TAD 40s 000 ans smaller, with Wegen TF 120s and TF140s.

My 12 strings and my National seem to prefer the Wegens.

I get them direct from the makers.

You must have very thick shag carpet. The truth is you probably made most of your own picks? Do you use Charmed Life Picks?

Default Shell pick

Got this one as a gift from a seller when I bought his guitar. It's real TS made from an old lampshade.

Some randoms from Guitar Center.

A modified Gravity XL I was given as a sample.

A Charmed Life flame direct from them (getting retired soon)

Just ordered my second Blue Chip.

I've been using Dunlop Jazz III picks exclusively for many, many years and I bought them from local stores. However, I also have a bag with probably a hundred different picks of all types, brands, sizes and materials. I purchased some of those because I like to experiment but also got many of them at guitar shows (promotional items, etc.)

I still have a tortoise shell pick I bought in 1972.

I can't explain how that's happened.

Default Where did you get your picks?

I’m pretty ignorant on this topic, co can someone explain to me what makes a single pick worth 50 bucks?
