Should I?
Hello, forum members
I have a chance to trade my 2017 Huss & Dalton TOM-R for a 2017 Collings 290 electric guitar. I haven’t been bonding with the H&D all that much, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about Collings. What are your thoughts? Anyone have any experience with Collings 290? Thanks! Ty |

I don't want to swing you either direction, but I'm just not a fan of the aesthetic of the 290. I've never played Collings electrics, so I wouldn't know about the sound, but I've lusted after the I35 a few times.
If it was me, I'd hang on the the H&D. Or sell it and get something you truly want. But that's me!! If you love the 290, go for it! (also love how Collings electrics are all named after Texas highways- does everyone outside of Texas know that? )

Still waiting to try out a Collings electric guitar. I would go for the dog hair finish!
The trade deal might be simpler than trying to sell the H&D yourself. |

I wish! This one is white with a Lollar Imperial in the bridge and a Lollar P90 in the neck. It’s beautiful! I just hate to let such a great acoustic go. I have a custom acoustic coming soon, so I will be acoustic-less for a little bit. -Ty |

I wouldn't even consider it if the 290 wasn't a double cutaway with P-90s. In any event I think your H&D is probably worth a bit more than the Collings so there is that to consider as well.

I would think you could sell the H&D and get a less expensive acoustic that you like and a cheap electric to play with.
I have played the Collings 290 (several) and I prefer the Gibson LP Specials. The Collings neck is beefier than I like on an electric. The only true way to know is play the Collings and see what you think. |
