I've been playing electric since 1965. IMO you are much better off spending money on a great amp than a great guitar if resources are limited. I'm a vintage Fender guy who likes Princeton Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Vibrolux amps. That being said if you are looking for a really nice tube amp under $400 used Peavey Classic 30 and Delta Blues amps are awesome. If you want a great sounding SS amp well under $200 Peavey Bandits are hard to beat.
