Weissenborn
This is an entry-level Weissenborn style instrument that, as far as I can tell, is totally unlabeled and unbranded. I'm pretty sure it was made in Asia. There are plenty of signs of handling, a few scuffs and dings but no cracks or damage beyond the superficial.
I paid to have it professionally set up maybe a year ago and the tech decided that the two outboard strings would tune better if wrapped backwards...see the photos. Not a big deal and it does stay in tune and play nicely. There is a bit of ornamentation in the form of the twisted-rope looking binding that is seen on nicer Weissenborns. I think this is prbly a sticker or paint or something. It's got the requisite hollow neck, the tuners function and it does have a new bridge saddle. I'm definitely not an expert on these types of instruments but I would say this one has a very crisp and clear sound with good volume. A guy I know who DOES know a bit about these said it was a very good entry-level instrument. I do know that it's a lot of fun to play but I could use the funds for another project I've got going. Comes with a perfect-fitting Gator soft case. Asking SOLD ELSEWHERE plus shipping. CLICK HERE FOR PHOTOS Last edited by jaz761; 02-14-2020 at 12:39 PM. |
