Martin 000-28VS. You'll know why if you can find one.

EDIT: Forgot to mention my Gibson L-1 (but you were asking about 00 and 000). It's a killer but in a totally different way than the VS. Much smaller too. Closer in size to a Martin 0.

Taylor makes a 12-string, 12-fret Grand Concert body guitar that's just too much fun to play. The one I played was a 500-series.

Well, the one's I have, naturally, see Signature

Generally, these will appeal more to picker's than strummers as well as folks who simply can't handle the dreadnaught size anymore. Some are short-scale, some are slot-heads but they all have a special mid-range growl I particularly enjoy.

Besides mine, Gretch sells a G9521 Roots O, OO, and OOO model that sounds very much like my Larrivee's and you can probably find one to try out at a big box guitar shop near you.

And if I can state this without being a %#&@, this is an evergreen post, if you don't get too many replies from yours, do a seach on "12 fret" and you'll find many many more posts on them.

Here's 2 of mine, the Taylor is a mahogany/blackwood short scale slot head, the Larrivee spruce/mahogany:

I likewise have a few, but my favorite is my Waterloo WL-12Mh. My other favorite is my OM-ish Larrivee LS-03. Oh, my third favorite is my Larrivee 00-09.

That's a lot of favorites but I can't choose just one!

I own two 12 fretters. An Eastman in 00 size, spruce/sapelle, nice and punchy. A Taylor 512 cedar/mahogany, warm and sweet.

The Martin 000-15sm is a winner, gets lots of love around her and desires it. I have really enjoyed everyone I have played. To the point of selling my 14 fret 000-15m to buy the 000-15sm. But the 14 fret I own is a real keeper so I’m keeping it .

Well I have three at present.
The '51 00-21 Martin is first on the list. (00 size)
Second would be my '71 0-16NY. (0 size)
Followed closely by a nearly new Collings Waterloo all mahogany (WL-12 Mh) (L-00 size)
Love 'em all and play them pretty much in equal measure but with the new guy getting a lot of play lately.

I own three 12-fretters - a Taylor 712e concert, a Faith Mercury parlour and a Faith Mars slope dread. Tough to pick a favourite, though the Mars is getting more love than the other two. It's the only long scale, but plays as easily as the short scales.

Please excuse the temporary detailing of the thread, I’d love to know your (and anyone else who would like to chime in) thoughts on the similarities between the Waterloo and Martin 12s. I’m the happy new-ish (it’s been a few months) owner of a WL-K and I’ve played the WL-12 mh a bit, but I’ve haven’t had the chance to try a Martin 12 fret in quite awhile so I’d love to hear how they compare.

OM here -- I'm looking for a 12-fretter that would fit in with my present guitar family (Larrivee OM-40W and Martin 00-28). Something with a different tone and distinct from these 2.

Thanks!
