The wait is over: the ukulele got here.
Perfect condition, great sound.
I’ve been busy trying to get it tuned: brand new nylon strings sure take a long time to stretch in! whm |

What size uke? That's a big deal in the ukiverse: standard (aka "soprano", but they were the first, ergo "standard")? Concert? Tenor? Baritone????? High or low G? Just remember: it's not a small guitar.

It’s a tenor ukulele, currently strung with a low G string.

Congratulations.......but......no pictures and it didn’t happen. I am actually quite interested to see a ukulele from this builder.

Congrats on the new uke!!!
I play tenor and baritones...be careful, they are addicting!! Yes, nylon will stretch a bit before settling in. I prefer fluorocarbon strings (high g) with the wound C (third string) string. That third string can sound a bit tubby and lifeless to my ears. Blends so much nicer and so much more sustain with a wound third. Uke strings are just classical strings repackaged so you can get them anywhere and most offer singles. Lot's of possibilities to mix and match to dial in the sound you are looking for. I use Savarez Alliance (carbon) trebles and a LaBella silver wound for my third string.

Oh, c'mon Wade, you're killing us! Pictures pretty pleaeeese!
I'm very interested to see and hear about it. I'm heading to the Big Island next month, and one of the first things I plan on doing is playing a bunch of Hawaii-build ukes. Looking for almost the same thing as what got, tenor, low G, and either all-koa, or koa b&s with a spruce or cedar top. On a side note, glad to see you back posting again. I hope you're fully recovered and doing well! |

Thanks, Mike. While you’re in Hawaii make it a point to track down and play some tenors; they’re not as common as sopranos but worth searching out.

congrats on the Uke Wade.
i've been thru just about every string brand and i really like Daniel Ho PHD strings, especially when set up in Low G. I've owned a couple small shop Ukes, Kanilea, and have finally settled on Kamaka. I had a Blackbird Clara Ekoa and sold it in some sort of rage of MAS, count that one as the top bad sell mistake of my lifetime. and in support of everybody else, post us some pictures d |
