One of my buds turned me on to Libby: https://meet.libbyapp.com/ so I've been getting some fun stuff from my local library. Currently in the midst of "The Lexicographer's Dilemna" by Jack Lynch. He's taking me through the history of "rules" of grammar.

I just finished ‘"Fearless “ by Eric Blehm. The story of Adam Brown, a Seals Seal, totally captivating.

Fran, I’m using ‘Libby’ also, a great app, I’ve been reading history online for years, “George Washington’s Secret six” was very interesting, I’m on hold for ‘Before we were yours”, by Lisa Wingate.

And I just today picked up his latest, "The Other Woman", which just came out. Got to finish up what I'm reading now so I can get to it.

I read self help books mostly because I don’t have a clue. I picked up a paper back copy of Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age” which is an old book revised for millennials.

Back when I was a working stiff we got sent to a Dale Carnegie course and what I got from it was to learn to fake sincerity. Sadly, when I experimented with their techniques they really worked!

On to a new audio book. My Cross To Bear by Gregg Allman. Way better than the one I just finished by Don Felder. I dont know if it was known before the book came out but Allen Woody's death was such a great mystery. Greg mentioned the cause casually and moved on an never brought it up again. Other than to talk about Allen being a great guy who he admired greatly and found to be one of the funniest people he ever met. He intimated that Allen Woody's death affected him almost deeply as much as Duane's.

Currently chewing my way through astrophysicist Brian Greene’s “The Hidden Reality”, where he examines nine different “Multiple Universe” ideas.

At the same time, my “bedtime book” is The Lord Of The Rings for the umpteenth time.... Frodo is about to encounter Shelob.

Just finished Patricia Highsmith’s “Strangers on a Train.” Honestly, I liked the Hitchcock film better.

Also about to finish the Bobiverse Trilogy on audio. Fun little series on automated space exploration.

Allen's death was a mystery b/c his family declined to have an autopsy performed. I believe that the cause of death was listed as a heart attack, but it's unclear if it was drug related or not. He was not the healthiest of people, so a heart attack at 44yo would be a surprise, but not unrealistic.

In 1994, I had the pleasure of meeting him and actually hanging out with him. The ABB was headlining the H.O.R.D.E. tour, and hardly anyone recognized him, so he was free to walk the grounds during the festival. He ended up hanging with our group for an hour and politely declined, when we offered him a beer. He was funny, friendly, gracious, and a talented bass player. RIP Allen and Gregg.
