Default How long have you been married?

This doesn’t apply to you singletons out there, obviously, but for the married folks I was curious to learn how long your marriages have been.

Next May 15 my wife and I will have been married forty years.

Met a skinny woman in a bar on Friday June 13th 1980.

In 1990, she decided she'd like to be married, I asked who to, she thumped me.

We got married on 13th June 1990.

Occasionally I ask her when marriage licences expire.

She doesn't thump me any more.

Long enough that I should charge for giving advice.

My lovely bride and I got married in the shadow of the Watchung Mountains on July 5th, 1980. That makes forty-three years. She's my best friend we are still madly in love!

When you have to stop and do the mental math, it’s been a while.

We always said we wanted to go to Vegas and renew our vows in front of Elvis, but I understand the Graceland empire has reached out and shut that down.

Got married 18 years ago when I was 42. Had a kid at 54…..my wife is 18 years younger them me. She’s a great wife and an amazing mother. My daughter is now 6. Hope to live long enough to see her move out and start a life of her own.

As a good friend always asks me….How did an a-hole like you wind up with a women like that?
I got lucky

It wasn’t the first marriage for either of us. We were “an item” for 5 years, and then got married. In a few weeks, it will 29 years of marriage, for which I am profoundly grateful. She’s my kind of gal: has a really good heart, is pretty darn smart, and works well with my “quirks and idiosyncrasies”.

Which time?!?

We were the classic when Harry Met Sally story. Two workmates, both in the middle of divorces, became best friends and weekend playmates and, after a couple years, the magic happened.

30 years in July, three great, educated, employed kids, two houses, two dogs and a lifetime of memories.

Oh, the stories I could tell…

36 years to my first wife....so far...

She always says "Love is a decision" and I agree.

Someone asked us once "what's the secret to a successful marriage?"
She answered "you have to have the same goals." I quickly agreed, adding "yes we share the same goal. We both want to keep her happy..."

I love that line and will use it! 40 years come December for us. At each anniversary I quip, “__ years ago you settled and I won the lottery”.
I once bought her a t-shirt saying, “My next husband will be normal”. I could not resist when seeing that one.
