I have very different thoughts here. 3 young people I know are relatively new or in training F-35 pilots.

The backlogs for the planes and training had an impact so one young man is already intercepting threats far to my east, one young woman waiting for more planes, and the other young woman just left to intercept threats far to the west of me.

It has been a really neat privilege to see these extraordinary young people work so hard, do so well, and kudos to an Air Force who recognized and facilitated this. All of them come from modest backgrounds, and their mix of gender and race shows anyone with the right stuff can be among the best.

Best wishes to all involve in this accident and the 3 young people I know.

Edit: The air base near me has had accidents where items have been ditched in the lakes.

Do they know yet if the pilot ejected on his own or if it was a malfunction of the auto-eject? Article I read suggested the latter and that the plane flew on quite a ways on auto-pilot...

Yes; I read the same information. Heck, it could be in Canada. It was specifically designed to fly undetected, and obviously also designed to fly without a pilot.

well,we know there is no F-35 anyone. Its a debris field a pretty good size one depending on how it went In.Now my question is how many million do ya spend finding it,collecting what they can, they'll never get all the pieces then get that scrap back to base? Update: Debris field located in Williamsburg county s.c. very rural county ive been there. "Kingstree" s.c. natives will know where it is.
