That's a great song about New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina (with typical underlying meaning). Any self-proclaimed Parrothead who doesn't know that song is a poser

There are definitely plenty of gems throughout the more recent stuff (2000 and beyond). Actually from the Fruitcakes album (1994) and forward I think the band was in full stride and the quality of the recordings was really good, and there are a lot of great songs. Different from the early stuff but in some ways more mature.

When Buffett opened Shrimpboat Sound recording studio in Key West they had some kind of board there that was very good. I can't think of the name of it. I think Hot Water (1986) was the first album recorded there.

That was definitely his best album

IDK. I have 27 of his albums and personally I think every studio release from Fruitcakes going forward is some of his best stuff. I'm not saying the earlier work is inferior, but that as he grew older his music evolved as well and it, as he, aged quite well as time (like French wine and cheese) marched forward.

While I dont think there are any bad Buffett albums, Barometer Soup is a personal favorite (followed closely by Changes in Latitude, Floridays, Last Mango... Who am I kidding, this list could go for a while).

A Bruce Cockburn song, but a great cover by Buffett. Sail on Jimmy and thank you for all the music that will never fade away.
