Default How to search for health insurance without getting 100 sales call each day?

I'm looking for health insurance for me and my wife. But when I did this for my son a couple years ago with a reputable insurance company we somehow opened Pandora's Box and were inundated with calls and texts from health insurance sales people.

Anyone know how/where to look at health insurance without getting on some spam call list?

I go to my Independent health insurance advisor and let her wade through it for me.

Any advice for finding a health insurance broker that doesn't get me on a spam list?

Good question

When I was approaching Medicare age, my financial adviser recommended a local broker that he’d worked with before, so that’s who I used. They also helped my wife with gap coverage between COBRA ending, and her Medicare eligibility.

We still get inundated with stuff every year when Medicare open enrollment comes around, but that just gets immediately recycled.

One that has an office that you walk into and sit down with someone. Not one online. Our advisor used to handle all the health insurance for the company my wife worked at. We just stayed with her when my wife retired. In one way or another we've been with her agency for twenty years. So I don't have any advise for finding one cold. If you have a financial advisor you might ask for a recommendation.

Glad it worked out for you; this stuff can be nerve-wracking to deal with. I was in the same boat, but I knew what Medicare Advantage plan I wanted, so I just went online directly to the insurance company. In 15 minutes my application was processed and now I’m just waiting for it all to be finalized. It’s been very easy so far. Also, I know several people who have gone to their local senior center, where they have folks who’ll advise you for free on all the choices. It’s well worth checking out if you’re looking for a plan.

Medicare.gov There are reasons for taking a Medicare advantage plan like saving money, but you give up the right to see out of network physicians. I am on straight Medicare with a medigap plan after learning the hard. way about Medicare advantage. Ymmv

My wife and I have been with Covering Central Florida for the past year, and we're paying $500/month for both of us. Out of everything I looked into for 2023, they offered the best price after some negotiation with them.

If you're thinking about looking into their plans, read about when is open enrollment 2024. There you will find all the details.

That's why I keep my land line. It's the only number I give out. Every call goes to an answering machine. At the end of the day I delete everything I don't want. I also don't give out my email address or sign up for updates or mail on anything. If I want to know I look it up.
