Dead Ringer For Me
Here’s another in the series I call country songs they forgot to write 50 years ago. I bring a couple of these originals a month to my weekly jam for several folks in their 80’s who love ancient country. This has a slow ballad vibe.
V1 I met her for coffee at her favorite cafe I'd wanted to see her most all of the day Since we've been together I've taken it slow I knew all along where I wanted it to go She said she was happy I was her friend & went on about a new love almost without end V2 She said any time that he comes around He can cheer her up whenever she's down And every time he's over to her place He can always put a smile on her face He has a very special place in her heart She counts the minutes whenever they're apart 1st Chorus I NEED TO FIND A WAY I'VE GOT TO MAKE HER SEE WHOEVER HE IS, HE'S A DEAD RINGER FOR ME I NEED TO TURN THIS AROUND I CAN'T LET IT BE SHE HAS TO KNOW HE'S A DEAD RINGER FOR ME v3 She said he's the only one she can think of She's happy being a woman in love I sat in silence nothing came to my mind There was an answer I needed to find As I was wondering what I should do She said baby I'm talking about you 2nd Chorus i THOUGHT I'D LOST MY WAY THEN SHE MADE ME SEE THIS MAN ALL ALONG WAS A DEAD RINGER FOR ME SHE TURNED IT AROUND TO HOW IT SHOULD BE SHE KNEW ALL ALONG HE WAS A DEAD RINGER FOR ME Last edited by DaveKell; 06-06-2019 at 06:55 AM. |

As usually happens , after performing a new song a few times I subconsciously change some of the wording. By changing the next to the last line of the 2nd chorus it now matches corresponding wording in 1st chorus. I’m always amazed at how these little changes only occur to me when performing a new song in public.
