Tried other pencils, but a #2 gives the best tone.

Weirdly, my go-to capo on both of my acoustic guitars (not really 'high-end' compared to some of the guitars you guys own around these parts) is my Dunlop Trigger, works amazing on my Furch G21CR and my Martin HD28V.

I find that if the guitars have been set up properly (good relief, intonation, correct action etc...), the capo doesn't need to exert a crazy amount of tension, and I only have to fine-tune the low E string. I use Shubbs on electric guitars (rarely use capos on electrics though)

Shubbs are very easy to put on and take off. They also hold well.

Troubadour, I saw that you don't get personal messages so I hope you're still checking this thread.

Are you still interested in the GC Martin Style 16? I just ordered. a new one for 20% off. The sales rep said that she could do the same for you after 3/1. PM me if you are interested with your email and I'll send you the details.

Lowrider, I’ve PMd Troubador on another forum to alert him to your message here. Hopefully he’ll see it.

I don't know why, but I keep buying capos. I have two G7 Newports; one for 6 string and one for 12. I also have G7 Performance 2, a Thalia, a couple of Shubbs, a D'Addario NS Artist, and a couple of D'Addario NS Capos. Heck, I even have a Spyder capo (rarely used). The one that I use the most is the Newport. It's easy to use and it works well, but I really like the D'Addario NS capo. It's small, light, cheap, and tightens evenly on the strings so the tuning doesn't drift. I like the functionality of the Thalia, but it's kind of bulky. Shubbs are really good too. They seem to be a staple among pros, as so many use them. Of course, you already know how well the G7 Performance works. Mine came in a really cool case to boot. Personally, I am not fond of clamping a capo to the headstock or untrimmed strings. I rarely use the D'Addario NS Artist, which is similar in design and function to the Kyser. Not a fan.

This probably wasn't of much use to you. For the price, I would check out the D'Addario NS. Cheap, functional, easy to use, light, and even pressure on the strings. If you don't like it, you're only out about $10.

And sometimes the have sales on blemished capos. The blemishes are so minor you can hardly see them.

I say go Shubb and don’t look back. Functional, affordable and very attractive!
