Default McKnight McJam - June 23 and 24, 2023 - Ohio

Now is the time to make summer plans. If you would like to take a trip to Ohio in the month of June we will open the door of the McJam to let you see McKnight Guitars shop, hear some great playing, jam with other attendees. McKnight guitars will be available to purchase, but a few are not for sale.

You don't need to be a McKnight guitar owner. Bring your own guitar or travel light and pick up and play one that is here. Other AGF members who have attended have enjoyed the event for 15 years and if you ask questions in this thread they will tell you all you what they know.

This is a Friday and Saturday event. I have typical common sense rules. Behave, show respect, listen and learn. Have fun. There is to be no alcohol, no recreational drugs and no smoking. A food truck will be here to let you buy your own meals as you wish. We plan to have snacks on the back patio. I'll supply drinks, but you are welcome to bring your own soft drink as long as you keep drinks out of the shop and loft.

I ask for a door prize. The more prizes we have the more attendees will win. You are expected to purchase a McKnight guitar t-shirt (prices vary) to wear during the event. The shirt is yours to keep to wear annually while here if you should decide to return.

You can call us if you have questions. Emails are easier for me to notice than AGF messages. I'm an admitted slacker in the area of staying on top of PMs. You can bring a friend but you need to sign yourself and them up in advance. Motels are 10 miles away. I wouldn't hesitate to reserve a room ASAP. I usually have a block of rooms reserved until 3:00 both days at the newest local hotel though I cannot guarantee prices.

While here, you will likely hear and share stories of the McKnight shop. You will see the woods. Ask questions. Win a prize. Have a laugh.

Think about it. Let me know. Google McKnight McJam. See what you are missing!

McKnight McJam (Located in the heart of Ohio)

Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24, 2023

Make suggestions - let's debate the fun and educational stage area classes. It's been a while so ...

How does it sound for donations of straps as door prizes? These can also be used as conversation pieces in a class. A few years back I had a brief class of not getting strapped with the wrong strap. This year we can discuss new verse used - why? what's the comfort level? What's the best strap? Leather? Cloth? Size? Colors?

I know it's difficult to get donations from companies of such items but this is a starting place. What else could or should I choose if not straps. Are you still using the last strap you won from the McJam? Is there a strap maker who would like to put theirs on display in the McKnight loft or to give away? Who do you know that can make a donation from your local favorite store or his/her shop?

OR

We did the guitar picks. Blue Chip was a nice pick. Ivory was a nice choice. Tortoise won a few ears, but those of you who attended remember the pick pouch was a star feature when we cut a piece of hotel room key card. I can make no comment on the winner of that class but you ...heard ... it ...here.

OR

What can you suggest that we test drive as a class and use as donations or have for fun? I'm open for suggestions.

The attendee list begins:

Tim M
Mary M
Adrianne W
Jeremy W
Teri S
Marcia (pronounce Marsha) H
Rodger F

Put me on the list, Mary. I'll put on my thinking cap on what to bring that's guitar-related. I could "volunteer" my wife to bake something but can't really speak for my queen. Suffice it to say I won't offer to cook. You all can thank me later!

Hey Folks -

Reminder than the McKnight Guitars will be seen at the Artisan guitar show in April. Seeing this fun batch will be the highlight of your weekend. You might get to see them at the McJam 2023.

Hold on to your heart. Let open the wallet. Mary has had guitars on her mind. Tim has been a busy boy creating amazing works of art that will attract many to take a deep cleansing breath. Don't cheat yourself and pass the chance to play the McKnight guitars of the 2023.

The McKnight Bullet guitar - See our full page ad during the Artisan guitar show. This absolutely stunning guitar is History in playable art. Who will be the owner of this guitar? The old western days of TV cowboys will be seeking this one. Let's be serious. Today's cowboys will always want to strap this guitar on their backs to show off the uniqueness of this instrument. Ya gotta see it. You are going to love this one. The bidding wars can begin.

Dance with the McKnight Kokopelli Guitarist. This one is just to fun to put down. Gonna feel like a kid when this one is in your hands.

The McKnight Scroll guitar is visually elegant. It's for those of you who prefer to feel like an adult.

The McKnight Southwest guitar has that bit of flare. The greens and blues will appeal to the eye of the one who wants to smile.

The McKnight Glitz has the abalone for the player who wants to shine.

The McKnight Spence guitar is subtle to the eye with the Blood wood tree that dominates the story as a mother of pearl pure white dove is flying over head. What does the dove see? What would it see if you were under that tree? You can be that dove to tell your own story. This guitar is a knock out.

And the Angel Guitar you got to watch the beginning process at the Mcjam 2022.

You will be smilin'!

We are gathering information on scheduling classes and food trucks. Friday's truck is still in the air. Coffee and Crumbs will return on Saturday.

Donations can be brought as you attend. For those who want to send a donation and not attend please contact me for shipping information.

McJam 2023 class.
"Don't get strapped with the wrong Strap."

Another class is in the planning process.

Let me know your plans so I can get attendance ready.

I am hoping to provide more back patio snacks and light filler foods for the grab and go moments as snacks are always desired. Let's face it, we can't have to much food.

I would like special food needs guests to give us a heads up in advance so I know you have food available at any given time. YOUR health is our #1 concern.

Planning for the McJam is under way. Rodger has his motel plans done.
We seem to have a few different people interested so we can see new customers who are traveling through. We are making a few minor changes to site to keep end of the night maintenance down.

What are YOUR plans charted in advance for June 23 and 24? Contact us and lets get your name on the list of freelancing your songs and playing music with the McJammers.

Food truck each day. Free snacks and drinks on the patio.

This year the Acoustic Coffee company will introduce themselves and have free coffee available on site and also to order. As a few private players have learned McKnight Guitars in some small way like to support our local Guitars for Vets. Tommy Emmanuel has a brand of this companies coffee to support them also. This information will be available at the McJam. I believe they will be here only one day and I am not sure which day that will be at this point, but attending only one day might change.

McKnight Guitar t-shirts are a must to be worn on site. We think we have your size available. Call our number (740-223-6114) and Mary can explain details if you are interested.

It's close to 6 weeks from now. I go through phases of thinking we can accomplish the weekend with new features to shake it up a bit. Each years has something or someone new to make varied hours of enjoyment.

Six weeks ago I would have thought surgery would be required for my arm. I had avoided the doctor and finally gave in. One hour and a Cortisone shot later I felt like me again. We were told this is a temporary fix. I'm good with that!

One of our newbies emailed several times that he lost his red shirt. It was a touching family special story but the shirt has been found. He hopes there will be no detoured plans as he definitely plans to show up.

Any sort of door prizes and back patio snacks are always welcomed! Surprise us.

"Don't get strapped with the wrong strap" can have a different meaning. What do you think I might come up with? One AGF member has sent a guitar strap. I am very grateful.

Adrianne will make her peanut butter cookies for an evening treat. They are rich and addicting. Let's remember food trucks need to get more of the attention during the hours they are on site.

We made a minor change on the patio that's less invasive so there will be no need for as many tables to come and go to the fire department. I hope this works out better for kitchen/clean up helpers at the end of the night.

Weather pending: Our McGit golf cart will offer a little stretching break. It was suppose to be here last year, but wasn't available until the following Monday. When there is no breeze if it is hot and sunny, you shall create onefor a bit of comfort.

Steak-n-it food truck - Friday

Coffee and Crumbs food truck - Saturday

Wanna know what else is new this year? No masks required.

We have received a couple of donations for door prizes. PLEASE THANK ANYONE WHO GAVE YOUR DOOR PRIZE. SEND A TEXT, EMAIL, POST MAIL OR AN AGF PM TO SAY THANK YOU. Everyone enjoys a freebie. Everyone deserves a thank you.

The Lone Cone doors will be open. Make yourself comfy in there. If Joel comes he always enjoys the sway of the hammock.

Pictures - I make a book of memories. Look at books of the past and see how hair has turned more gray after 16 years.

Craig/Coldshot - you need to report in to Rodger so we can plan our annual 10 minute group chat.

Sunday - David has offered to plays and sing for the church service. If anyone else plans to join us I will have time and location at the desk.

FYI: The rules and schedule (that is never written in stone) will be at the table along with lanyards and all the other papers I ask you to sign. Rodger and I will bend the schedule to fit the needs of the day. Tim said we need to tell him where to be and he can show up. If you need a shirt I need to know so I can have yours marked and available at the desk so you can put it on within the first 10 minutes of arrival.

Remember:

Pre-sign up is appreciated/expected

Red t-shirts on Friday

Blackt-shirts on Saturday

*** No pets. No smoking. No alcohol. No recreational drugs. No short shorts, no midriff showing and no low cut tops.***

Any questions? Contact Tim or me ASAP. Thanks!

The Bullet guitar will not be in attendance for the 2023 McJam. It was sold at the Artisan Guitar show as soon as it was off the stage.

Pre-sign up is important. Some attendees do not read AGF so they were in touch other ways to join us.

Let us hear from you.

A few "never before seen at a McJam McKnight" guitars will be on display. If you have been here you know how Tim rolls with the McJam weekend guitars. Take a look at the link below.

I'm actually a little nervous. I don't know which of my guitars to bring, and I always worry that I'll fall in love with a McKnight.

My wife is in a mood too, so I'm worried that something didn't get scratched off the "honey do" list to her satisfaction. I'll need to ask you for advice Mary: one of her gripes is that I've turned the dining room table into a workbench. Is that bad? How do you keep Tim in line?

I guess I should've learned a long time ago to keep the tinkering to the basement or the garage, but she's also taking over the back corner. I really need to build a humidity controlled version of the "lone cone" in the back yard and let her have her wine cellar.

Hopefully she doesn't change the locks though.

Hmmmm, If I ever brought me craft and sawdust in the house I would be banished to the doghouse for a very long time. Come to think of it, we don't have a dog so I am pretty certain that dog house is far far away.

Glad you played your Cedar/EIR Jumbo last night. It sounded very nice.
