Default Ever see a 1930 Tenor L-5?

This is what they look like:

According to Joe Spann the Gibson shipping ledgers indicate that it was one of five tenor L-5 guitars shipped as a group to a store in NYC in 1930.

It has the FON 9750 inside, which means that it has the exact same FON as my TGL-5 that was converted by its owner about 5 years after purchase!

SISTERS! What were the chances?

I'm glad that mine has 6 strings, though. I can only assume that Lou Bernie thought he'd get more work with the extra 2 strings, so he sent it back in 1935, but they kept the 10th fret marker because that's what tenor players were used to.

Sometimes the internet is a really nice tool.

It's beautiful. 1930's Gibson tenor guitars are very enjoyable to play and collect.
