Feels delightful in the fret hand and looks lovely. Won’t feel jagged when a wood fretboard shrinks. Gives a titch more fret surface than regular tapered fret ends.

Labour intensive to: cut each fret to exact length, cut back the tang ends, round each fret end consistently, plunge cut fret slots. Labour costs can be reduced in high volume shops though process improvements and task specialization.

Recently re-introduced as a feature of high end ukuleles, followed by the very affordable Enya Tenor Pro composite ukuleles etc. Now a feature on the very affordable Enya Go guitars and the Donner guitars.

Cheers

I just opened the Donner I bought on Amazon for $299.

First impression: What a piece of junk.

Action is a mile high and unplayable. Hit the open low E and there are weird resonances that obviously shouldn't be there. It's too bad because the overall tone is really pretty nice!

The neck has horrible bow. I'll try straightening it later and see what that does.

The saddle is very high, so lots of room to take the action down, but I'm not touching it. I may try to exchange this one or just return it. I feel sorry for any beginners buying one and receiving the unplayable guitar I bought.
