Default Hatcher's Workshop '15

I've finished out my Hatcher's Workshop '14 thread and will now roll into the new year with the appropriate '15. I have a lot going on this year. I'm learning and working to set up a video/sound studio so that I can include sound clips on each or most of the guitars I make. Also, I am getting pretty far along settling into my new shop and would like to show more of the shop and what I do there. In fact I'd like to eventually try to give you a sense of the environment that I'm am working in and am inspired by.

Right now I have three guitars in process. I have my new parlor model which I will do a separate build thread on and I happen to have two BRW Josie small jumbo orders I'm working on. One will have the whole abalone treatment and has some great spider webbed grain. The other will be an all wood guitar. It has a nice quarter sawn BRW set with lots of red that I'm trying to capitalize on in the design. I'll start with some pictures of that:

We're going with Bloodwood for the binding and other accents. Bloodwood is very red and tends to stay red more than any other wood:

This guitar is getting a very nice Adirondack top:

This guitar will be a short scale 24.75"
14 frets to the body
Full body small jumbo size 16" lower bout

Lot's more to come!
Mark

I wanted to steal the honor of being the first to post in Hatcher '15 since Hatcher '14 had over 17,000 views.

I will say Mr. Hatcher, that you sure seem to have a knack for finding beautiful wood to use as your template...That is gorgeous BRW.

It's been my good fortune and pleasure to work with such great materials.

Thanks fountainhead, ukejon, and Jack42!

I'm starting off with a lot of very nice projects this year so check in often.

I'm interested to see what people's opinions are on the difference in looks between these two BRW Josie models.

Thanks,
Mark

Ooooooh the others are right. That BRZ is killer.

Have you ever gone down the hide glue route? I'm a true believer.

Default Second BRW

The second BRW Josie I am working on in addition to the abalone I previously mentioned will have a cutaway. It will be 25.5" scale and have a Swiss "moon" master grade top. Here are a couple of pictures of this one:

I think the sides are particularly beautiful. This is what Ziricote wants to be when it grows up!

Abalone is going to go well on this, don't you think?

Mark
