Nice score OP! Welcome to the club!

When I think how Eastman instruments are generating a big buzz on the AGF and the internet in general, I can't help but think of the cartoon "Pinky and the Brain" and the closing phrase, "Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?, The same thing we do every night, Pinky - try to take over the world!"

I just took it out of layaway tonight. Before buying it, I retested it against a few other Eastman guitars and the Martin and Taylor sub $1500 lineup. The one I had put on layaway was the best by far. So, it's now home. Will take some real pics tomorrow. Happy NGD!

Woot! Congrats again... looking forward to more details, once you've had more time to get acquainted (and photos!).

That’s great.

I am always particularly drawn to their slopes... finding an Eastman in person, playing it... and taking it home... no lose.

Enjoyed my E10ss. But while she is gone on to another owner, my MD 300 mandolins are permanent in my home..

Hi, Eastman Strings, he company, has been around far longer than many understand.
They had learnt from the best about making violin family instruments initially for the Chniese market but s China opened up to export they applied their understanding of the violin design to arch-top instruments like gibson style archtop guitars and mandolins.

China has a good few centuries on us westerners as far as art and craftsmanship, and I for one, was delighted that their first archtop gutars was following the early (and excellent) gibson guitar designs. I bought my first Eastman (AR805e) in, I think, 2007 and it was a two year wait!)
when it finally arrived , apart from minor set up adjustments it was a very, very good instrument.

There was an Eastman instruments Yahoo group that I joined and at one time we (as users) were asked what new products we wold lke to see - and flat-tops were obviously on the table.

I suggested that as the Martin clone market must be saturated it mght be better to continue to focus on reproducing the prewar Gibson designs.

They ignored me , of course, as they are making Martin really react to them as serous competition.

However, whilst I would loved to have seen them reproduce archtop and flat top versions of the L-0,1,3 etc., they seem to be doing OK

I've recently bought a "parlour" E20-p - their version of the Martin size "0". Intersting that Martin have recently discontinued all their pre '31 designs. I guess they have to focus on the mass market, and leave the original designs to Collings, Santa Cruz ..and of course - to Eastman.

Congrats! I bought an E10D that killed my GAS for Martins. Now I have GAS for Eastmans. I’m trying to collect them all . My latest purchase, an AC630, absolutely destroyed the J-200s I compared it to. Eastmans aren’t just good for the money, they are just great guitars.

I'm a big fan of dreads so I'm more than a little biased when I say what I've said previously. IMO dreadnoughts are the meaty part of the Eastman lineup. The OP's is a beauty - many congrats...

Congratulations. I own an Eastman E1P which is a great little guitar, but I previously had an Eastman MD-814 mandolin for several years and loved it. I think Eastman are just at that sweet point of price and quality right now; it makes them a very attractive alternative to the lower/mid priced offerings from more familiar western brands.

I love both of my Eastmans...E40D-SB and E10OM-SB. My GAS is cured for now.

Default Eastman guitars

I do have an affliction for Eastman guitars especially the OMs. I have owned a total of 7 and still own 3 - AH6OME, E10OM-TC and E40OM - with a fourth soon to be arriving. I wish I could have kept them all, maybe except the ones with 1 11/16" nuts which don't play well with my finger tips. Great tone and exceptional value.
