I have played a couple of the EC's. The main difference is the modified neck with 3/4" nut width and the heavier overtones. Great guitar but I prefer the plain 000-28.
I tried out 00028EC last week and what I like the most is its balance tone.

000-15M. I have one and love the musical detail, sustain and well rounded tone.

I picked the 00028VS - not because I own one but because it is the nearest to the Collings 0002h that I own and delight in.

I've only played the 000-17sm and 000-15sm. Purchased the 000-15sm two years ago, just played it last night, and it still "wows" me.

I voted 000-28vs since it is the most similar to my custom shop 000 12 fret. That is my favorite of all my guitars. I also have a 000-17sm, which is wonderful as well, bu I prefer the rosewood back and sides of my custom 000.

I picked the 000EC because I owned one for a time and it was quite a nice guitar.

My 000-42 Marquis is actually my favorite, but they only made 155 of them and it's been out of production for many years, so I understand why it's not on the list.

It has the tone! Words don't really describe tone, but the upper end is ringing and crystal clear. Very comfortable to play. I have never regretted the relatively high price I paid for this as a used guitar. It's worth every penny and more.

I can think of three 000 Martins I prefer above anything on that list (000-30 Authentic, 000-42 Authentic and 000-28k Authentic) but put me down for the 000-18GE and 000-28vs if I have to stick to the list.
