Gluing in that -End Pin-?
Folks,
Please pardon my lingo but other than "End Pin" I'm not sure what you'd call it. I have a newish guitar that has a End Pin of Ebony. It's become loose and has fallen out. What glue do you folks suggest I reattach it with? Looks like that interior support piece (behind the Koa outer trim) isn't anything special. It appears to be a piece of lamination...plywood, so that's not an oily or special consideration. I'm guessing some Elmers or Titebond ?? Thanks, Jeremy. Last edited by Gutch; 02-24-2010 at 12:58 PM. It's called an end pin or peg, and it is typically not glued in! Usually a light tap to seat it in is enough to hold it. If you must glue it, I would recommend just a drop of super glue and then tap the end pin into position. If you ever need to remove the end pin in the future (say, to install a pick-up jack or a bone end pin), it should release by tapping it from inside the guitar.

I seem to remember my friend from Chattanooga had a similar issue, and as I recall gluing it in is not a great idea. Friction fit is the answer.

Don't glue it.
When I have had that problem, I have wrapped the end pin with white Teflon plumbers tape to make it a tight fit. Jim |

Maybe it's just me, but I never had a reason or desire to fiddle with the thing. Is it common practice to mess with it?
