Post Creating a new multi-fret capo and need some help!

So I decided to create a new capo that could cover different frets on different strings. I need some data from the target audience and would love if some people could take a minute or two out of their time to take this survey. Thank you! Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...rm?usp=sf_link

Hey bud,

I just wanted to say something like this has been made. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe yours is better or is different enough that it could obtain a different patent but do a Google search for spider capo

I tried a spider capo but it’s fiddly and cheaply constructed. I’d actually be interested in a better design.

If I read it correctly, the OP is talking about multi-fret capoing, not multi-string, like the spider. And try as I might, I just can't envision it. I have seen folks use more than one capo, as well as short capos (only cover a few strings) for just this purpose.

I could be wrong.

I think I can see it.. it either has to be let's say 3 frets wide with screws on top, 3x6 ... 18 screws... That you would screw down to fret the particular strings.

I'm not an engineer but that's what my lego brain comes up with.

I envision it as an adjustable device that will span frets in a caliper sort of fashion with individual string/fret tensioners. No idea how it could be accomplished.

If you think it is truly novel and a patentable idea, I would not share any details with anyone. You can patent it yourself, but there are standards, deadlines, and protocols to be aware of.

I’ve tried muti-fret capos, partial capos as well as using multiple capos and didn’t like it. Sure, it got the guitar into a new tuning, but it also changed all the fingerings. Tunes that I learned in DADGAD couldn’t be played if I used capos to achieve a similar tuning. Am I missing something?
