Default The Last Thing I Needed - cover

https://vimeo.com/480985231

Best known by Willie Nelson, although he didn’t write it, The Last Thing I Needed. I modified the end (bridge?) just a little.
Hope it’s worth a listen.

Very nice Roger!

Sad song! I can hear how that would work well for Willie Nelson! I enjoyed your cover, Roger!

That's a pretty sunburst on your guitar! And nice recording! Sounds very natural, like we're in the same room!

I hope all is well for you and your family, Roger. Make the most of Thanksgiving!

- Glenn

Hello Glenn. Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond. Yes, the Gibson sunbursts are my all time favorites, and I love the tone and feel of a good J45.

That is a sad song and was written by Donna Farar and Gary P, Nunn. ( wrote and sang London Homesick Blues, which Austin City Limits used for the opening song for years. Maybe they still do.) The story goes that Farar started the lyrics and sort of got stuck. Nunn worked with her to finish the song and (I think) wrote the melody.

My recording is about as simple as it gets...an iPhone and me. I’m glad it comes across ok. I did re-record it from the version you listened to earlier. A little more melodic, I think.

Be well, Glenn and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Roger

Well done Roger. I love this song but have deemed it just too dark to play out! Thanks for sharing your version with us.

Thanks folks, for the feedback. I guess it is a little dark - maybe darker than I realized. Maybe I’ll post a happy tune next, if I can think of one. 😉😉
