Default Can such damage to a sound board ever sound Ok?

I’ve no doubt that this can structurally be repaired.

But what about the tone?

Tone will be different after repair. Who knows how much? If it is better or worse is the opinion of the listener.
It might be easier/better to replace the top?

YEs it's possible to fix but I would only fix damage like that on a vintage guitar. That guitar would be better off with a re-top. So it's a $5500 dollar guitar that they are asking roughly $1000 dollars for and requires about $2500 dollars worth of work.
