Default My new to me custom shop Breedlove Guitar

Saturday, I went into a local music chain store and a guy was trying to trade in this 2006 Breedlove revival custom shop 000-R the label is signed by Kim Breedlove. They offered him the incredible trade in price of $800 on a new Gibson SJ-200 which he immediately turned down. I overheard him tell his friend he thought they would offer much more than that at least $1500 He was armed with the original work order stating he paid $5249 new. I asked him if I could play it he said sure, after playing it a few minutes I could not believe he would want to sell it sounds great and plays easy just an outstanding guitar but he said he really wanted a Gibson SJ-200. I ask him to come outside with me and I would make him an offer he did and we made a deal and couldn't be happier.

Thanks everyone! They definitely are one of the hidden secrets of the guitar world. This is the first USA made Breedlove I have played and man was I shocked by how loud and clear each note is.It just amazes me we don't hear more about these guitars.

Sometimes, coincidences can work in everyone's favour. Enjoy your outstanding deal that came with an outstanding guitar.

If it sounds half as good as it looks, you’ve got a keeper. It’s a Christmas miracle.

Very cool. I could tell you that I’m NOT insanely jealous, but that would be a lie, and I try to never lie on the Internet.

You were there at the right time and the right place, and your overall karma must be pretty good, because you sure scored!

Hey Riley,

I’m extremely excited to see this beautiful piece of Breedlove’s work. The brand suffered through many struggles and marketing decisions, but also produced some incredibly amazing instruments. This is certainly one of those. I would very much like to see more pictures, and a sound clip would go a long way towards enlightening others as to just what fantastic (traditional) instruments they made.

I’m no expert, but my educated opinion is that Steve Henderson made the bulk of the body and neck, with Kim doing all the voicing, inlay, binding and finish work. He (possibly along with Steve) chose the woods for the entire instrument as well.

This is a traditional build, which they did extremely well. No JLD truss. I’ve played quite a few of these types of builds by Breedlove during those years, and the masterclass builds (of which you now possess) are exemplary instruments.
Not my cup of tea so to speak, but the quality of build and tone have few if any peers.

What a fantastic and wonderful experience. You must be extremely happy.

Mark

That is fantastic. I love my C25 CRe-H, which I picked up at a crazy price. She’s an equal to my Martin and Taylor and completes my holy trinity of e/a guitars quite beautifully
