When I first fell into the pick business (I started making picks only for myself in 2015, then friends started asking me for one -- argh!), I was amazed that NONE of the major high-end boutique pick manufacturers made picks below 1.0 mm. I mean, no one.

They still don't.



That was way back in 2015, folks. More than five years later, we've shipped thousands of thin, high-performance guitar picks all over the world -- and we're STILL the only ones doing it. Go figure.

Meet Charmed Life Picks. If we're new to you, I'm a full-time English professor who got sucked into making picks for my friends, then started a company when they wouldn't stop annoying me.

When I founded the company, I had two goals:

1) We would NEVER charge for shipping, ever;
2) I would never make picks just to make money. I would only make picks that I personally would use in recording or performance.

We're one of only two guitar pick companies making picks out of genuine DuPont Vespel Polyimide. Except that the other folks stop at 1.0 mm on triangles and .90 mm on teardrops, while we go lower -- much lower. In fact the Vespel triangle pictured below -- at a mere .75 mm -- is the #1 selling triangle in our company. Play it against any other .75 mm pick you can get your hands on and watch it blow it into the weeds. Sorry, it's not even a fair fight.



Why don't other vendors use Vespel? Very simple. It's not profitable. Vespel is the single most expensive plastic on the planet -- you have to be very careful not lose your shorts and put yourself out of business. It took us years to figure it out.

Remember, I never built this company to make money. I built it on performance. Don't get me wrong, the money had to come, and it has -- at least enough to keep our lights on and the doors open -- but that was never the goal. It was performance. Think Porsche. Think Ferrari. Think Rolex.

Of course. Whatever is best on your end. Vespel is scary stuff to work on, and so dang expensive, so we walk before we run. We'll be acquiring some more machinery by the end of this year that will reduce our cost per and allow us to slowly increase production.
