Waterloo WL-S - SOLD
This Waterloo WL-S (originally shipped to Folkway Music on 10/17/2017) is in very good condition. This is basically a stock version with one notable exception, the bridge pins have been swapped out to Antique Acoustics Replica Martin Style 17,18 (1931-1939) bridge pins. It has a vintage iced tea burst, original waterloo paper label, and TBar neck support. The action is set low which I believe finger style enthusiasts will really love. The top on this one has a few small impressions as the Waterloo's typically get with their ultra thin nitro finish and some glossing throughout that you can see in the photographs. Case is original, however one latch has broken. It's the one on the far side that is more a of pain if you ask me.
The guitar is always properly humidified in a smoke and pet free home. The guitar can be shipped within Canada or to the US but my preference will be to local buyers first. Price is $2650 USD net + shipping via PayPal. I'm the second owner. Any questions just PM! Specs from Waterloo Guitars: Body Width: 14" Body Length: 19" Body Depth: 3 1/2" Scale Length: 24 7/8" Nut Width: 1 3/4" Saddle Spacing: 2 3/8" Recommended Strings: D'Addario EJ16 (.012"-.053") Here is Folkway's glowing review of the instrument: "Since receiving our first WL-S some time ago, the model has become a shop favourite. It's unique among the Waterloo models in that it features its own smaller body shape, unique ladder bracing, and cherry back and sides. It's a very lightly built guitar, and offers up some of the best small-body guitar tone we've yet heard in any guitar – new or old, X braced or Ladder-braced. The guitar's super-light build has a lot to do with the bold, fat, open, and responsive tone of the WL-S. It's remarkably feather-weight, and built with a cherry back, the string energy really energizes every surface of the guitar. 14” wide across the lower bout, and only 3-1/2” deep, the WL-S is noticeably small. The guitar's 12 fret neck has a scale of 24.75”, and the player's hand is never extended too far, which adds to the small feel of the guitar. Softened V neck with contemporary size and a 1-3/4” nut make for a very easy and light playing experience, and the 2-3/8” string spread at the bridge offer great right hand room to move. Slotted headstock, bone nut and through-style saddle, ebony pyramid bridge, rosewood fingerboard. Stewmac Golden Age vintage style tuners on a slotted headstock, semigloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish throughout." Last edited by A.Wilder1; 12-22-2022 at 10:54 AM. |

Per Mark Althans at Collings, the top is either sitka or adi (unspecified in build records)...looks sweet! These are punchy little guitars!
GLWS!

Aesthetically they look quite different. Tonally, I'm not really sure this is much of a difference. Just my opinion.
