Thanks that's my backyard before winter set in, I was floored by how well the Blue Digital Spark picked things up. A few minutes later the neighbors dog came over and added his harmonies! Steve

It's here!
Had a package from Alistair waiting at my office for me today when I arrived, and inside was my beautiful blue Amicus 12. The blue looks great, dark & deep colored, glad I picked it, though I'm sure the amber is excellent too.
I only had a bit to play with it, but I love how it looks and sounds. Pics to come when I have a chance, and maybe I'll even record a little audio or video, though my playing isn't going to do this wonderful little guitar any justice. |

Got mine too!!
Thanks for the inspiration, guys! Thanks to your videos, I was inspired to buy an Amicus 12 (from MacNicol Guitars). IMHO, Alistair has knocked (another) one out of the park with this one. Comparable in voicing to a Veillette Merlin, this instrument (in my opinion) sounds far richer, louder, clearer, and better. It just sings!

The OP DID buy an Amicus, and I just bought it from him via a classified ad here on the AGF.
I am totally enamored with playing the Amicus!! The sound is magical! So much fun to play........easy to reach far across the neck length-wise. Tonight I played it until I could tell that my hands would physically not be able to play much more. ..........And I have ONLY played nylon string guitars for the past 40+ years. The guitar arrived tuned down to BEADF#B - the equivalent of a regular guitar capoed on the 7th fret. I have left it there because I like it. |

Congrats on your new instrument! Just curious as to the string tension... is it relatively easy on the hands? My band is moving towards making more original music and I’m an avid 12-string player. The Amicus looks like a great niche instrument that I could use. |

acwild, I am probably the least qualified person to answer your question about string tension, because, except for this new (for me) Amicus, I am strictly a nylon string guitar player. So I am used to strings that feel very different and have a much lower string tension than steel strings. All I can say is .......... it works for me, I am having a blast playing the Amicus!
Maybe some other forum members can offer an experienced steel string guitarist perspective. Amicus specs are here: http://emeraldguitars.com/product/am...=7516fd43adaa# Tuning on the Emerald web page referenced above is listed as D-G-C-F-A-D. I am enjoying playing the Amicus 3 half steps lower, which would be lower string tension, of course. I believe that there are guitarists utilizing both of these tunings. |

acwild, the Amicus is easy on my hands, but the reason that the OP sold it is because he had a hand injury that left him unable to play the Amicus, although he told me that he can still play his regular full scale guitar.
In my experience the "playability" of each guitar is highly individual. |
