Ya definitely one of my favorites and A staggering "one hit" selling over 7 million copies world wide. And topping out at No. 1 in 9 countries

I suppose in retrospect one could say it was a virtual "anthem of the hip movement " in 1967....

I don't think anyone has mentioned

(Not so much my favorite but I was reminded of it by the mention above of Hurricane Smith . . . )

Great track - Produced by Pete Townshend who came up with the hand-claps.

"In the Year 2525". This must be the Ultimate One-Hit Wonder!

Denny Zager recorded this song in 1969 and formed a company called Zager EZ-Play Custom Guitars. The Zager Guitars website says "established 1969".

https://zagerguitar.com/about/

He is now 75 years old and has made a life-long career out of the fame of this one-hit wonder. Waydago Denny!

Scott McKenzie had a #24 US Billboard follow-up to San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair) in 1967 with the John Phillips composition Like An Old Time Movie.

I play both as solo acoustic guitar instrumentals.

Ah memories - I remember taking that song alon to an early music lesson for "musical analysis" by our lovely music teacher called Percy.

Sadly he was stabbed to death breaking up a playground fight shortly after and never replaced.
He was a lovely guy.

Good to remember that all these "one hit wonders" have one more hit than all the rest of us put together.

We have a winner.
There are many I like, but "Brandy" --- that is the top one-hit wonder of my little life.

While you killed it with "Brandy," this one, "Billy Don't Be a Hero" while definitely a one-hit wonder, was not wonderful for me. I literally wake up sometimes and this ear worm will not leave me alone. Man, I have never liked this song, and it is in my mind forever..... The lyrics, ugh.... and yet, with me forever.
