My favorite was when I was teaching. A teacher was having a baby and some 'work-friends' were organizing a shower. They asked me to donate money and told me I couldn't attend.

I prefer the good old days were the women just ignore us and don’t even bother asking us to go with them. I think I would rather be water boarded than have to attend another one of these torture sessions. I think I set a new worlds record for checking my watch at the last one I was “invited” to. A man can only take so much of this abuse. Oh and don’t you just love it when they start in with the games? Somebody shoot me.
Not my cup of tea either, to say the least. That said, it's one afternoon of your life. Suck it up, go to the event, and afterwards let your wife know it's not much fun for you. Much easier to decline in the future if you attend one in good faith first.

If your wife is anything like mine she puts up with a lot of events that aren't much fun for her and does it without complaint, such that you may not even know it bothers her.

Yes, my solution to many similar invitations is:

"I'm sorry, I won't be available to attend that event, but I'd be happy to make a small donation to help out..."

One of the cool things about being my age is that nobody invites me to anything anymore. That's very liberating.

My first and last was at my step daughter baby shower. Well, they ask you to take a length of string to guess how big she would get , so I did, and as stated was my last baby shower to be invited to.lol

These “shower games” Marty only serve to provide irrefutable evidence that men and women MUST have landed here from different planets. I mean what other explanation could there possibly be?
