I switched over briefly and caught the big discussion question running through every bodies minds.
"Will Harry shave his beard off?"

That was enough for me.

I had not intended to watch the Royal Wedding, though I was sorta at the Windsor Palace just two weeks ago. I say sorta because on our tour we had allowed 4 hours for our visit. The drive from our London hotel and parking went smoothly. We arrived at 9:00 a.m. It was almost 11:30 when my wife and I finally made it through their Security checkpoint. We had just under half an hour to enjoy the entire castle, something for which many people spend the better part of the day. We practically ran through as much as we could, but made it back to our coach on time. We zoomed right past the Chapel where the wedding took place. This was enough to get my wife hooked.

All weekend long, she watched a long string of historical programs about past royalty and their weddings, and though she didn't get up at 4:00 a.m. to see this one live, I think she's watched it at least seven times. I think I've seen it almost that many, though in short segments. Question: When, historically speaking, did commentators begin to believe that their quips and comments are more important that the event they are supposed to be covering?

Now I know what the word, "atwitter" means. I heard one young female commentator say, "I am so excited - I can actually almost see them!"

I nearly spit out my coffee when I read that! Yes, the day was chock-a-block full of twits.

I do not sleep, so I did in fact watch most of it, albeit with a guitar in my hands.

My favourite part was The Rev. Michael Curry. I just loved the camera cuts to various faces in the crowd. The utterly baffled upper crusts were agog; or as the Guardian put it...

"The American bishop did it black."

I am sure quite a number of audience members have never heard anything like it. His sermon was great, but the reaction was better.

I've heard FAR more people making sure everyone knew they were not watching it than I heard people saying they were.

I did actually end up watching a little bit of it. Very little. I was cooking my breakfast and turned on the TV. So I watched it with the sound off until breakfast was done. The ultimate wedding! Like the super bowl of weddings. In that respect it was kind of cool.

Watched the highlights on YouTube. Very nice. Pretty funny watching the reactions of the brits to that American pastor givin' it the down home treatment. Loved that.

Entertaining in highlight form for sure. Always liked that Harry, as a younger brother and a bit of a cut-up myself, I always identified with him. Megan is gorgeous, and does some good work on her own time. Nice.

I liked that they kept some of the traditional vows in,

“For richer, for poorer, ,,,,, “

I watched quite a bit of it, in the pub, in the company of others, spontaneous laughter all around at that one !

We generally enjoyed the heck out of it. Like Andy ‘tache, we all felt sorry for the bride’s mum , who appeared to be shepherded in through a side entrance and seemed to have nobody to accompany her and take her arm.

I’m American. My wife and I watched most of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
