Default Your 5 Favorite Joni Mitchell Songs

Ok, I've had good luck with these threads, so I'm sticking with it. What are your 5 favorite Joni Mitchell Songs? Only 5. Mine are:

The Gallery - Clouds
Free Man In Paris - Court and Spark
Harry's House/Centerpiece - Hissing of Summer Lawns
Real Good for Free - Miles of Ailes (I like the live version better)
Song for Sharon - Hejira

The Circle Game

I need to pick 5 favorite albums, not songs. Well, here's 5 that would definitely be on my list, but I'm leaving out SO many (like Cotton Avenue)...

You Turn Me On, I'm a Radio
Free Man in Paris
The Hissing of Summer Lawns
The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines
Dreamland

Sheesh . . . I could easily have included Dry Cleaner From DesMoines. Have you heard the live version from Shadows and Light? It's Outstanding! Boy is this frustrating. Who's the idiot who keeps coming up with these stupid threads?

One of my all time favorite records. I've worn out 2 copies on vinyl.

i'll only list one since it's also on my short list of all-time favorite songs by anyone anywhere. and i'd be hard pressed to describe why except for the unique atomosphere it exudes. and i've gotta learn the tuning so i can play it someday, i usually resist alternate tuning.

and i didn't discover it on the actual album, i discovered it as part of a double LP (yes those) sampler warner brothers (i think) sold for $2 apiece back in the 70's to let people, well, sample different artists cheaply. hey! you think the riaa could have learned a lesson from that? [g]

anyway, sorry for the digression. i'm beyond help on that score:

I don't have 5 total! (Sorry Joni, but when you were in Indianapolis warming up the Dylan show in '97 or '98, you were rude, arrogant, and less than entertaining. )

Sorry, off my soapbox. I'll take Big Yellow Taxi, Chelsea Morning, and three songs from another draft pick to be named later. Chelsea Morning is a good one, though.

I think it was David Crosby that said “she’s as modest as Mussolini”. I say the same thing about my mother in-law( oops). But I still love them both.

So many good early Joni Mitchell songs. She lost me after Court and Spark, though she had flashes of brilliance after that time.

Narrowing it down to 5 in no particular order would be:

Little Green----written about the baby she gave up for adoption when she was about 17. The lyrics are among my favorite.

The Circle Game----written as a response to Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain"

Both Sides Now

A Case of You-----written for Leonard Cohen

That Song About The Midway-----just because it recalls another time in my life. First love, and all that nonsense.

The Blue album is still one of the best, lyrically, of an album from that era. IMHO.

Can I list one song five times??? I could listen forever to Amelia from the Hejira album. The lyrics, the unusual structure, and the Larry Carlton elec. guitar part make it one of my all time favorites.

like all of 'em huh? i understand.

ps: tks to hodagg to pointing out 'a case of you'. i drifted off of joni mitchell after the first couple of albums (or after 'hissing of summer lawns, i think'). but i'm a huge cohen fan and i have all his stuff, but i try to collect songs of his by others also, 'famous blue raincoat' by jennifer warnes being far and away the best of those covering him so far, imo.
