Thanks mate.

Before purchasing the Guitar, I was not aware that Yamaha has no authorized online retailer here in India.

It looks like 2019 because the ball-point pen caught in the underlying texture of the cardboard and the 6 got tangled up into something looking like a 9.

(for those who were honestly thinking it was a 9 )

And 7/4 is 4/7 to us USians

In general QC Rejected would mean it is not up to standards.
Personally, if I bought this item from reputable vendor then I would ask for a "no cost" exchange or refund.

Now on the other hand.... The seller could have easily removed or covered up the sticker.. Interesting ..

Did you contact their customer support to see what they say?

Does the Serial Number on the box match the one in your guitar? Sometimes dealers will ship a guitar in whatever box is handy. It's strange that a QC/Rejected sticker would be on the box. I wonder if Yamaha sells rejected guitars or factory-seconds to dealers rather than reworking an instrument to pass QC standards or destroying it completely?

That QC label is something you should take very seriously. If you're still within your return period, DO IT! If you're outside return period, your credit card should be able to get your money back. Best, is if you used PayPal. Your guitar was not as described. Don't take chances!!

Best of luck to you.

I also contacted yamaha india support about the issue but they said they can't comment on it because yamaha has never authorized any online retailer to sell their products.

However the retailer offered me for a replacement/refund.
take the refund!!

Yes, the box and guitar has same serial number.

This Label is confusing for me also. It's known that Yamaha is very serious about their products and they claim to make their products upto the mark before they leave the factory for consumers. Hence there's no chance for a QC Rejected product selling in the market.

And if it's a fake one, then there shouldn't be a QC rejected label on it. Right?

Could be like the B stock guitars that are rejected for minor flaws in the finish or something. At least on certain manufacturers, the serial numbers are over struck and sold in large lots to discounters who then resell them. If I looked over a new guitar and couldn't find the flaw, and it played and sounded fine, I wouldn't let it bother me.

I've seen B stocks that the flaw was as little as a slight pinhole sized fish eye or bubble in the finish on the back of the guitar.

To me, the savings over a brand new full priced instrument would make it very easy to over look such a flaw.

OP If you paid full brand new price, and they offered you a refund would they exchange it for a non QC rejected guitar?

Default QC REJECTED Label on my Yamaha F310 Guitar Package

If it were me I would return for refund and buy the guitar from an authorized retailer. That way you get a Yamaha warranty backed by the company. But it's up to you, and the online dealer seems reasonable and willing to work with you.
